Acupuncture has been well documented as an effective treatment for migraine. Migraine headaches are typically moderate to severe in nature and can be accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Classically Traditional Chinese Medicine sees this condition as one involving the upward movement of Liver energy. The eyes are influenced by the Liver organ, and often migraines are accompanied by a visual aura and pain at the back of the eye. Points along the Gall Bladder Channel, the Liver’s paired organ, are commonly used in treatment. This channel runs from our temples, over the eye and up over the head, along the side of the body right down to the tip of the toes. The Liver’s energy is compromised by emotional stress, poor diet and a lack of exercise.
